Each of the four precious gemstones, Sapphire, Ruby, Diamond and Emearld, are associated with a different wedding anniversary.
SAPPHIRES
Sapphires symbolise longevity, loyalty, fidelity and health.
For centuries Sapphires have been adorned by royalty and clergy, the Greeks and Romans believed blue Sapphires protected them from harm and envy while clerics wore sapphires during the middle ages to symbolise heaven.
Blue is the most recognised colour of Sapphire but they also come in pink, orange, yellow, green, purple and violet.
Sapphires are traditionally given as gifts on 5th and 45th anniversaries.
