Pearls
Pearls are one of the most loved gems of all time, they were seen as a symbol of modesty, chastity and purity and have also been associated with wealth and status for thousands of years - in 1917, Pierre Cartier traded a double strand of natural pearls for a mansion on Fifth Avenue in New York City!
Natural pearls are formed around an irritant in the bodies of certain mollusks (shellfish). In 1893 Kokichi Mikimoto successfully created a cultured pearl in Japan by delibertly adding an irritant to mollusks.
We are all familiar with cream and white pearls but they also come in black, grey, silver, pink, green, purple, or blue.
Pearls are not only associated with June and Gemini but also with third and thirtieth anniversaries.
A classic staple, pearls will never go out of style, they are the perfect heirloom jewellery. Shop our carefully curated collection here: Pearl Jewellery
Moonstone
Moonstone is often associated with love, passion and fertility, historically it was associated with Greek and Roman lunar gods; it is also believed to bring good luck.
When light falls on a moonstone it scatters in many directions, producing the phenomenon called adularescence - the light appears to billow across the gemstone, giving its surface a glowing appearance.
You can find Moonstone in our Birthstone Charms Collection.
