Choosing an Eternity Ring? Three things to consider.

Choosing an Eternity Ring? Three things to consider.

We’ve been so lucky over the years to meet couples and help them find their perfect engagement ring.  Then they return for their wedding rings which marks another huge step in their journey together.   And then we often see them return again to choose an eternity ring.

Eternity rings are chosen to mark many different life events.  From the arrival of a new baby to making it through the first year or five years of marriage! Whatever the reason, it’s a huge achievement.

So what are the three things to consider when buying an eternity ring?

  1. Decide which hand you are going to wear your eternity ring on.  Many people choose to stack an eternity ring with their engagement ring and wedding ring.  If you would like to do this, check that you have enough room on your finger and make sure the new eternity ring will sit flush alongside your other rings.  You may be limited on style and shape when stacking rings but it can also give a fabulous balanced look to your collection.
  2. If stacking isn’t for you, then look at your right hand and visualize what will complement both your finger and your engagement ring and wedding ring.  You have way more scope when choosing an eternity ring for your right hand.  There are no limitations to the size, shape and what gemstone you decide to go for.

  3. Diamond or Coloured Gemstone? Whether you are stacking your eternity ring alongside your engagement and wedding rings or wearing it on your right hand you can choose whether to go for all diamond or a coloured gemstone.  If you want a pop of colour, think about the colour clothes that you most wear, your skin complexion and what gemstones would best match.  Another consideration when going for a coloured gemstone is durability.  Sapphires make great eternity rings as they are more durable than say emeralds, tanzanites and opals.  However if choose to keep your eternity ring for special occasional wear, then going for these softer gemstones can make the ring more unique, sentimental and special.

I hope that gives you a little insight into choosing the best type of eternity ring to match your personality and style.  Feel free to get in touch if you’d like to discuss your options.
