If you were born between October 23rd and November 21st you are lucky enough to have the choice of two birthstones, Topaz and Citrine.

Topaz comes in many colours: brown, various tones and saturations of blue, green, yellow, orange, red, pink, purple and colourless. Colourless Topaz is often treated to change it to blue.

The ancient Greeks thought Topaz could give them strength, while Europeans thought it could thwart magic spells and dispel anger.

Blue Topaz is also associated with 4th anniversaries and Imperial Topaz which is a pinkish orange colour is associated with 23rd anniversaries.

Citrine is a pale yellow to brownish orange variety of quartz, which can often be mistaken for Topaz. Because of this it was thought to have the same powers as Topaz but is was also believed it could soothe tempers and calm the wearer.

Citrine is also associated with 13th anniversaries.
