The first thing to think about when choosing your wedding ring is the shape of your engagement ring. To prevent the rings rubbing together and causing wear some engagement rings need a shaped wedding ring, as in the example pictured above.

Do you want diamonds or would you rather keep it plain and simple?

To help make the decision, ask yourself how hard wearing do you want the ring to be? Small diamonds in wedding bands need TLC whereas a plain wedding ring will stand up to a lot more wear and tear. Can you wear your diamond wedding ring to work? Some professions can't wear any stone set jewellery so maybe a plain wedding band is a better option for you.

Do you intend to add an eternity ring in the future?

A plain band is a good option if you are thinking of adding an eternity ring to the same hand but some engagement rings will suit a diamond band on either side.
